Job summary

Remedy Education is seeking a SEN Tutor to support a student in Southend-on-Sea on a 10 to 15 hour-a-week schedule with ASAP start. The role is 1:1 support focusing on core subjects, with emphasis on ASD and other SEN needs, either privately or via local authorities.

You will apply differentiated teaching strategies, maintain strong communication with carers, and ensure consistent, safe learning. The ideal candidate will have QTS or relevant teaching experience and an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• QTS; or at least 1 year experience teaching and assessing English and / or Maths and / or Science in primary and / or secondary schools — must have demonstrable SEN exposure.
• At least 2 years' experience working with SEN such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, ADD, PDA, dysgraphia, and global developmental delay.
• A proven record of heightening pupil confidence, self-esteem and love of learning.
• Committment, reliability and honesty in teaching.
• Ability to apply differentiated teaching to planning and delivery.
• Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Knowledge of different learning styles and how to use them.
• Ability to handle potential behaviour issues.
• Enhanced DBS on update service.
• Willingness to apply for public liability and professional indemnity insurance.
• Register to work as self-employed.
