Job summary

Supply Desk Danesfield is seeking a compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for a part-time role starting September 2026. You will provide dedicated support to a pupil with SEN, helping access the curriculum and develop academic, social, and personal skills.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO, delivering personalised strategies and monitoring progress, while safeguarding and promoting wellbeing at all times.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one support in educational or care settings is desirable.
• Patient, compassionate and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
• Ability to build positive relationships and provide emotional support.

About the Role

Are you a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school, where you will provide dedicated support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs and play a key role in their academic, social, emotional, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support to a pupil with Special Educational Needs, helping them access the curriculum and engage positively in learning.
• Support the pupil through personalised strategies, adapted resources, and targeted interventions.
• Develop a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil, promoting confidence, independence, and emotional wellbeing.
• Support the pupil with communication, social interaction, sensory needs, and emotional regulation where required.
• Promote positive behaviour and help the pupil develop their independence and life skills.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, parents, and wider school team to support the pupil's progress and wellbeing.
• Monitor and record the pupil's progress, providing feedback to teachers and other relevant professionals.
• Adapt support to meet the pupil's individual needs and respond positively to changing circumstances.
• Create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages engagement and participation.
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.

Requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
• A good understanding of SEN, with experience supporting needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, or other additional needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one support in an educational, care, or similar setting is desirable.
• A patient, compassionate, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
• The ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent emotional and educational support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A calm, flexible, and adaptable approach to supporting individual pupil needs.
• A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
