Qualifications

  • Expérience avec les élèves ayant des besoins spéciaux souhaitée.
  • Capacité à travailler dans un environnement SEN/SEMH préférable.

GSL Education are looking for pro-active and committed individuals who are passionate about supporting children with additional special educational needs (SEN), including social, emotional or mental health. The school’s that GSL Education work with provide nurturing spaces for pupils and promote inclusivity where all learner’s are supported and work is tailored effectively to their individual needs.

The role of a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant is to support the class teacher by working with specific children who need additional support within the classroom. This can include working both one to one and in small groups, leading interventions for both academic, and social and emotional development.

Previous experience working with children with special educational needs would be beneficial, including experience working alongside, and managing, challenging and complex behaviour. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with relevant school-based experience, and also a resilient and proactive personality, who is able to respond effectively to challenging needs.

Role of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Supporting the Class Teacher, consistently implementing behaviour policies and reinforcing the learning
  • Embrace all aspects of the school’s visions and core values
  • Working with pupils with complex needs, challenging behaviours and additional learning needs
  • 1:1 and small group work ensuring pupils stay engaged and motivated

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have lots of patience, be proactive and resilient! - this role can be challenging, but it is very rewarding!
  • Experience working within a SEN/SEMH school (preferred, not essential), or experience working with children or adults with additional needs
  • A strong ability to develop relationships and rapport with pupils
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
