ABC Teachers is looking for a skilled 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN School in Birmingham on a full-time basis.
About the role
- Confidently provide 1:1 education to students.
- Ability to work with students with a range of Social, Emotional or Mental Health (SEMH) needs from years 7 to 9.
- Liaise with other school staff to devise lesson plans based on the curriculum guidelines and what is currently being taught in other lessons.
- Assess and monitor student’s progress, using assessments from their home schools and robust baseline diagnosis, aiming to reduce the impact of their medical conditions on their educational outcomes.
- Encourage student participation and performance.
- Full time position available for an immediate start, with potential for ongoing work for the right candidate.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant you will:
- • Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism, and sensory needs.
- • Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
- • Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students .
- • Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are:
- Two years experience supporting students with special educational needs.
