Job summary

Apex Education Recruitment is seeking a 1:1 Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work with a non-verbal KS2 student at a Hornchurch School. The role focuses on providing structured learning while maintaining routine and boundaries throughout the school day, helping the student access their learning.

The successful candidate should have patience, resilience and enthusiasm to support children with additional needs. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time only.

Qualifications

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 3 student who is non-verbal.
• Support the students learning, communication, and social development.
• Establish and maintain clear routines and boundaries to help the student feel secure and engaged.
• Experience using PECS, Makaton or Communication Boards/books.
• Experience working with SEN children that have communication needs.
• Can build strong, trusting relationships with the student and staff.
• Happy to assist with personal care if needed.
