Pay: £16k + per annum (pro-rata £83.50 - £90 per day)

We’re looking for a 1:1 SEN Support Assistant – Reading to support a Year 3 child with Autism (ASD).

The 1:1 SEN Support Assistant – Reading will join a local mainstream primary school in Tilehurst, Reading. The successful candidate will provide individualised 1:1 support to a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who exhibits high energy levels and has limited awareness of personal safety, often running impulsively. This role is crucial in ensuring the child's safety and facilitating their full participation in school activities.

Role Overview:
  1. Ensure the Tilehurst, Reading child’s safety at all times
  2. Use SEN safe strategies to manage impulsive behaviours
  3. Support learning, social & emotional development
  4. Work closely with teachers, SENCO & parents
  5. Keep records & communicate progress
Requirements:
  1. Previous experience working with children with ASD or similar special educational needs is essential.
  2. Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support children with limited safety awareness.
  3. Relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Early Years or SEN qualifications (desirable)
  4. GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 and above (Mandatory)
