Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a patient and experienced Secondary English SEND Tutor to provide personalised one-to-one English tuition in Wokingham, Berkshire. The role focuses on enabling learners with SEND/SEMH to build confidence and achieve academic progress within a calm, structured learning environment.

The tutor will adapt teaching to meet individual needs, support GCSE preparation where appropriate, and collaborate with parents/carers to monitor progress.

Qualifications

• Strong English subject knowledge at secondary level.
• Experience teaching or tutoring English.
• Experience working with secondary-aged learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Experience providing one-to-one educational or tutoring support.
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual academic, emotional and behavioural needs.
• Experience supporting learners with barriers to mainstream education.
• Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.

Responsibilities

• Provide personalised one-to-one English tuition to a secondary-aged learner with SEND/SEMH needs.
• Support the English curriculum and GCSE preparation where appropriate.
• Develop reading, writing, spelling, grammar, comprehension and vocabulary skills.
• Support English Language and English Literature as needed.
• Identify gaps in learning and provide targeted academic support.
• Adapt lessons and resources to meet individual needs.
• Monitor progress and provide feedback to parents/carers.
