Job summary

Cornwall Council is seeking a personal assistant to support an eight-year-old autistic girl with a learning disability living in Redruth. The role involves 1:1 support at home and in the community, helping her explore, learn new skills and participate in activities to build confidence and independence.

The successful applicant will work to establish a positive relationship, accommodating anxiety around new people and places, and will be employed under a private arrangement with the family.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of working with young people with special educational needs.
• A full driving license.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support at home and in the community to help the child build independence.
• Support development of new skills and social interaction through activities.
• Build a trusting relationship to ease anxiety around new people and places.
