Job summary

Cornwall Council Together for Families is seeking a Personal Assistant to support an eight-year-old autistic girl with a learning disability in Redruth. The role is 1:1, at home and in the community, to help her explore, learn new skills and gain confidence.

The child is non-verbal and may be anxious around new people and places, so building a trusting relationship is essential.

Pay starts at £13.45 per hour, with four hours per week, and flexible scheduling to fit the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience or knowledge of working with young people with special educational needs.
• A full driving license.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support in home and community to help the child develop independence and learn new skills.
• Support social interaction and build confidence through engaging activities.
• Build a trusting relationship to manage anxiety around new people and places.
