Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Maths & English Tutor to provide 1:1 support to Sidcup students currently out of mainstream education, including those awaiting school placements or accessing alternative provision.

You will deliver tailored tuition, build confidence, and help learners re-engage with learning, while monitoring progress and maintaining safeguarding compliance. DBS on Update Service and right to work in the UK are required or willing to obtain DBS.

Qualifications

Experience teaching Maths and English.
Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum.
Experience working with disengaged learners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging and personalised Maths and English tuition tailored to the student's age, ability, and learning needs.
Support students who are out of school and may have gaps in their education.
Identify learning needs and create structured lesson plans to accelerate progress.
Develop confidence and competence in core Maths and English skills.
Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit individual learning styles and needs.
Foster positive attitudes towards learning and encourage student engagement.
Monitor, record, and report on student progress and outcomes.
Build strong relationships with students, parents/carers, schools, and local authorities where required.
