Job summary

Greenshaw High School, part of Greenshaw Learning Trust, is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil with complex neurodivergent needs, including ADHD. The role emphasizes safeguarding, 1:1 academic and behavioural support, and close collaboration with teachers, the Inclusion Team and pastoral leads to enable curriculum access and independent skills development.

Full training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people in education, care or community settings.
  • Understanding of ADHD and its impact on working memory, impulse control and executive functioning.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with colleagues and parents, with safeguarding at the forefront.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct 1:1 academic, environmental and behavioural support.
  • Collaborate with class teachers, Inclusion Team and pastoral leads.
  • Support pupil during exams and assessments and help with independence and time management.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated and committed individuals to join Greenshaw High School as a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, direct 1:1 academic, environmental and behavioural support for a specific pupil with complex neurodivergent needs (specifically Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder presenting as executive dysfunction, working memory challenges and emotional dysregulation).

Full, specialised training will be provided to the successful candidate. Working in close collaboration with class teachers, the Inclusion Team and pastoral leads, the primary aim of this role is to safeguard the pupil’s emotional wellbeing, facilitate their full access to a high-quality mainstream curriculum and strategically scaffold their independence, time management and self-regulation.

We're looking for someone who:
  • Understands how ADHD affects working memory, impulse control and executive functioning
  • Has proven experience working with children or young people (this could be within an educational, care or community/youth setting)

  • Committed to the safeguarding of children
