Job summary

Lansbury Bridge School, part of St Helens Borough Council, is seeking a 1:1 Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team. The post is Fixed Term until the pupil leaves Lansbury Bridge School, to support a pupil with complex medical needs in a collaborative, caring environment.

The successful candidate will contribute to high standards, build strong relationships with pupils, parents and staff, and participate in professional development opportunities within a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• 1:1 Level 3 Teaching Assistant role supporting a pupil with complex medical needs.
• Experience working with children with SEN and ASC/behavioural difficulties is advantageous.
• Fixed Term contract until the pupil leaves Lansbury Bridge School.

Responsibilities

• Support and supervise individuals and groups of children under guidance from teaching staff.
• Provide classroom assistance and behaviour support using approved strategies.
• Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences with prepared lesson plans.
• Assist and direct colleagues as instructed by the Teacher.

Experience of working with children with SEN and ASC/behavioural difficulties would be an advantage.

Lansbury Bridge School is a generic special school which caters for 240 children and young people, aged 4-14. All of our pupils have complex needs and have an EHCP in place. The majority of our pupils have profound, severe or moderate learning difficulties while over 50% also have a diagnosis of ASC. A number have additional sensory, physical and medical difficulties.

Purpose of the Role

To work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction/instruction of teaching and/or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs. Enabling access to learning for all pupils, assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques and providing specialist support in a specific curricular/resource area. Supervision of whole classes during the short‑time absence of teachers with agreed lessons plans in place.

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant there is an expectation that you have the confidence and organisational skills to support and direct colleagues as instructed by the Teacher.
