Job Description:

Salary Scale: £25 - £30 per hour

Start: ASAP

GSL Education is seeking a 1:1 LAC (Looked After Child) Tutor at a school in Leeds. This role involves providing tailored educational support to children in care, focusing on their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver personalized 1:1 tutoring sessions for Looked After Children, addressing their specific educational requirements.
  • Provide support in Maths, English, Science, and SEMH for LAC or CLA students.
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with each child's education plan (IEP).
  • Monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Maintain a supportive and nurturing learning environment to foster student achievement.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching/tutoring experience.
  • Have experience working with children in care or with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Understand the challenges faced by Looked After Children and how to support them effectively.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support children in care.

Additional requirements:

This role requires a strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection. Applicants must pass all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS check registered to the update service or willingness to apply for a new one.
