Job summary

Qualiteach Education Group is recruiting a 1:1 Behaviour Teaching Assistant for a Lewisham primary school. The role focuses on dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with complex behavioural needs, helping access lessons and managing transitions throughout the school day.

You will work closely with the class teacher and school team to implement strategies that calm and support the pupil, using a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach to behaviour.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with behavioural challenges is desirable.
• Ability to stay calm and positive in challenging moments.
• Strong rapport-building with pupils and staff.
• Understanding that behaviour can be a form of communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with complex behavioural needs.
• Help pupil access lessons and manage transitions.
• Develop strategies to cope with situations that trigger challenging behaviour.
• Stay calm, patient and professional when dysregulation occurs.
• Collaborate with class teachers and the wider school team to reinforce positive behaviour.
