A primary school in Lewisham is looking for a confident and resilient Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil with significant behavioural needs. As a 1:1 Behaviour Teaching Assistant will involve being a consistent and reassuring presence throughout the school day. You will support the pupil with accessing lessons, managing transitions and developing strategies to cope with situations that may trigger challenging behaviour.The pupil can become physically dysregulated, so the school is looking for somebody who is confident dealing with unpredictable situations and understands the importance of staying calm, patient and professional. Your ability to develop a trusting relationship will be particularly important. You will need to understand that behaviour is often a form of communication and use a trauma-informed and attachment-aware approach rather than simply reacting to incidents.You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to identify triggers, reinforce positive behaviour and help the pupil develop greater independence over time.
