Are you calm under pressure, patient, and passionate about supporting children with behavioural needs? We're looking for a dedicated and empathetic 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant to join a nurturing primary school in Northampton, providing essential support to help a child thrive both academically and emotionally.

Position: 1:1 Behaviour Support Assistant
Location: Northampton
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:

In this rewarding role, you'll work closely with one pupil on a 1:1 basis, offering consistent support to manage behaviour, build trust, and encourage positive engagement in learning. You’ll work alongside teachers and the SEN team to implement behaviour strategies and create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 behavioural and emotional support to a specific pupil
  • Assist in implementing behaviour intervention plans and strategies
  • Encourage positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with the child and their family

About You:

  • Experience working with children with behavioural or emotional needs (essential)
  • Calm, resilient, and empathetic approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to remain consistent, patient, and positive in your approach
  • Relevant training (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA) is an advantage but not required

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
