Job summary

Esland Bedford School seeks an Alternative Provision Tutor to work 1:1 with pupils through the school’s internal AP provision. The SEMH environment supports up to 70 pupils aged 8-18, with a nurturing culture and balanced work/life approach for staff.

The role focuses on re-engagement for pupils with attendance issues, extending beyond traditional tutoring into pastoral and safeguarding duties. Suitable for those with AP experience.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE English and Maths (grade C or above)
• Experience in a similar setting or Alternative Provision
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with young people with Autism, ADHD or Anxiety
• Full UK Driver’s Licence and access to a car

Responsibilities

• Write and maintain Support Plans for specific pupils
• Mentor individual pupils
• Deliver ½ day AP sessions, including off-site sessions
• Safeguard and promote welfare of children and young people
• Liaise with Senior Leadership Team to ensure appropriate pupil support
• Attend meetings with parents/carers and external agencies
• Provide feedback to parents, teachers and support staff
• Collaborate with SLT on pupil welfare and support
