Job description

Due to a recent restructure within the Pharmacy department, we are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Rotational Clinical Pharmacist to join our team.

Our Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust, where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds, including pharmacist-led clinics. We are an innovative and forward-thinking department that has invested in technical improvements, including robotics and state-of-the-art dispensaries and technical services. The department is friendly, forward-thinking, and constantly expanding. This is an exciting time to join us as electronic prescribing has recently been implemented, and we are using Quality Improvement methodology to reprofile and optimise all aspects of pharmacy service. We welcome innovation and encourage ideas around doing things differently.

We will support you with a full in-house training program, and you will have the opportunity to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, as well as be encouraged to obtain a formal qualification as a Pharmacist Prescriber.

Our highly respected and well-embedded Clinical Pharmacy service includes ward-based Clinical Pharmacists, Medicines Management Technicians, and Medicines Management Support Workers, ensuring you have maximum patient contact with a minimal supply role.

Main duties of the job

As a Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, you will gain experience in a wide range of clinical specialties and will be integral to providing a clinical pharmacy service to our core wards on a rotational basis.

You will have regular meetings with the Lead Pharmacist for each specialty to facilitate learning objectives and provide clinical support where needed.

During the second year of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, you will have the opportunity to undertake a rotation within our Aseptics service, alongside experiences in specialties including haemato-oncology, critical care, paediatrics (including neonates), as well as rotations within the Pharmacist-led Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Anticoagulation clinics.

Rotational Clinical Pharmacist Band 6 + participation in the remote emergency out-of-hours Pharmacy service.

We welcome applications from registered or soon-to-be registered pharmacists.

You should be an excellent communicator, able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Previous hospital experience is not essential.
