Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking a dedicated worker to support care leavers aged 16+ in Rochdale, ensuring compliance with the Leaving Care Act. You will manage caseloads, develop pathway plans, and coordinate access to housing, education and health services.

The role requires experience with vulnerable young people, strong safeguarding knowledge and the ability to advocate for entitlements. DBS checks are required, and travel within and outside the borough is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with vulnerable young people, including those experiencing difficult or crisis situations.
  • Experience developing positive working relationships with young people.
  • Experience involving young people in problem solving and planning.
  • Knowledge of statutory processes relating to Cared for Children and Care Leavers.
  • Knowledge of Children Leaving Care legislation and Local Authority responsibilities.
  • Understanding of independence preparation and training.
  • Ability to assess needs and independence readiness and develop appropriate plans.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people, colleagues and partner agencies.
  • Ability to priorities workload and meet tight deadlines.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity.

Job description

Work Pattern: 37 hours per week,

PAYE Pay Rate: £16.62 per hour

Main Purpose

To support young people aged 16+ who are leaving care, ensuring the Council meets its responsibilities under the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000. The role focuses on promoting independence, supporting care leavers and helping them access appropriate services and opportunities.

Typical Day
  • Manage a caseload of care leavers and support their transition from care.
