Job description

Our 0 to 19 Torbay Team Leader will lead and manage a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) team within the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (TSDFT). The role involves overseeing the team to fulfill their public health responsibilities for individuals, families, and communities.

You will have a reduced clinical role within the SCPHN team and will provide first-line management cover for other team leaders in the SCPHN 0 to 19 management team. The role also includes leading service development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead teams with a strength-based approach to service delivery.
  2. Value differences and individuality, showing respect to all when managing a team and working with children, young people, and their families and carers.
  3. Promote the development of self-managing teams.
  4. Develop effective, client-centered decision-making processes.
  5. Engage proactively in quality and service improvement.
  6. Encourage innovative ways of working to meet the challenges of working in high-need, deprived communities.
  7. Collaborate with managers from Action for Children to deliver the Torbay 0 to 19 service contract and meet key performance indicators.
  8. Maintain constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Work closely with TSDFT Children’s Safeguarding Team.
  10. Manage complaints according to TSDFT policy.
  11. Conduct annual appraisals and 1-to-1 management supervision, encouraging staff participation in child protection, CAMHS, and Restorative supervision.
  12. Signpost staff to wellbeing at work services, including coaching.
  13. Contribute to the implementation of the Torbay 0 to 19 Partnership delivery model, ensuring a safe, high-quality service with continuous improvement processes.

0 to 19 Torbay is a partnership between TSDFT and Action for Children, providing a universal service to children, young people, and their families in Torbay.
