About the CollegeNorthumberland College is the only college in the county serving, the communities of Northumberland, offering a diverse curriculum from Entry level to Level 6, discrete SEND provision and Apprenticeships.
We have three campuses based in Berwick, Ashington, and Kirkley Hall, Ponteland.
Kirkley Hall offers land based provision and our animal care and management is based at this beautiful rural setting on the outskirts of Ponteland. In October 2024 we achieved an Outstanding rating from Ofsted, in addition to being the top Performing Land based College in the Northeast. In 2025 out student residential unit achieved an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.
Over recent years, the College has invested over £14million in new facilities at its sites, including a £2.5 million STEM Centre at its Ashington campus which is set to become the first pathfinder Gen zero FE College in the UK in 2025/2026

About the CandidateDo you have a passion for agriculture? An excellent opportunity has arisen for a 0.5 (2.5 days per week) Learning practitioner in Agriculture to join our ambitious team at Northumberland College. We are looking for someone with current industry experience who is eager to impart their knowledge and ignite enthusiasm for sustainable faming, innovative techniques and the vital role agriculture plays in our world. Joins us as an Agriculture Learning Practitioner and become a changemaker through shaping the next generation of agricultural workers and leaders.
About the RoleThe role is 0.5 FTE (2.5 days per week) and is based at Northumberland college's Kirkley Hall Campus. The campus provides outstanding resources and development opportunities.
Our Kirkley Hall campus offers an array of industry-leading teaching facilities. Agriculture boasts a commercial farm with cutting edge teaching resources including Te Pari cattle and sheep handling facilities. The campus also offers an immersive hub, a BIAZA accredited zoo, equine resource centre and canine facilities, plus much more!

Role Responsibilities- Plan, prepare and deliver high quality, sequenced learning through career focused schemes of learning
- Provide an excellent experience to students through exemplary learning, teaching and standards of assessment
- Teach students to high standards using appropriate and varied student - centred approaches, embracing learning technologies to enhance the student experience.
- Actively engage in reflective practice and contribute to the wider professional development programme.
- Liaise effectively with the wider support team to ensure appropriate and high-quality academic support is provided as required.
- Participate in college recruitment and marketing events where required.
Qualifications- L3 qualification or above in a relevant subject
- Level 2 maths grade 4 or above
- Level 2 English grade 4 or above
Essential Skills & Experience- Experience of working in the animal industry
- Up to date knowledge of industry standard practice
- Ability to work collaboratively with students and colleagues
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to work towards a L5 teaching qualification
Desirable Skills & Experience- Ability to use digital technology to support innovative learning
- Previous experience of working in the FE sector
