ALSTOM is seeking a Vibroacoustic Engineer in Saint-Ouen, near Paris, to drive noise and vibration performance in project development and R&D activities. The role involves applying engineering instructions, conducting analysis of tenders, preparing specifications, and developing methodologies for vibroacoustics of Rolling Stock and Components.

The candidate will join a team of acoustic engineers, with opportunities to lead R&D actions, manage resources and collaborate across global projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master in engineering or physics with vibroacoustic specialization.
  • 5+ years in vibroacoustic in automotive/aeronautics/railway/building sectors.
  • Experience in vibroacoustic simulation with simplified monopole models.
  • Experience in vibroacoustic testing with multichannel systems and postprocessing.
  • English fluent; willingness to travel.

Responsabilités

  • Apply Vibroacoustic Engineering Instructions to project tasks.
  • Perform vibroacoustic analysis of tenders comparing to referent solutions.
  • Prepare Vibroacoustic specifications and VAMP for projects.
  • Allocate noise sources and train assemblies using ALSTOM standard methodologies.
  • Perform and postprocess vibroacoustic tests and report to validate models and tests.
  • Perform vibroacoustic simulations for exterior and interior noise and components.
  • Liaise with the Discipline Leader to validate Management Plan, allocations and risks.
  • Capture the Vibroacoustic REX of projects using AT Vibroacoustic databases.
  • Lead and manage R&D actions in vibroacoustics; manage resources and budget.
  • Develop innovative methodologies to standardize the design process.

The Vibroacoustic engineer will act in the context of product developppement and R&D activities.

In the context of Product Engineering development, the Vibroacoustic engineer will manage the noise and vibration performance in project/offer development through the application of internal procedures including Vibroacoustic management plan, standard Vibroacoustic simulation and measurements of Rolling Stock and Components.
In the context of assignment to R&D tasks, he will be in charge of the development of methodologies and technologies related to Vibroacoustics of Rolling Stock and Components.

Main Responsibilities in the context of Project Engineering development
  • To apply the Vibroacoustic Engineering Instructions and guidelines to perform the project/offers tasks
  • To perform the Vibroacoustic analysis of tenders by comparison with referent solutions and previous projects
  • To Prepare the Vibroacoustic specifications and Vibroacoustic Management Plan (VAMP) to be applied in projects
  • To allocate the different noise sources and train assemblies through the use of ALSTOM standard methodologies for Rolling stock and for Componenrts
  • To perform and postprocess standard Vibroacoustics tests and report to validate prediction models and type tests
  • To perform standard Vibroacoustic simulations for exterior noise/interior noise and components
  • To liaise with the Discipline Leader to validate Management Plan, allocations and risks.
  • To capture the Vibroacoustic REX of projects through the use of AT Vibroacoustic databases
Main Responsibilities in the context of R&D main activities
  • To lead and manage R&D actions in the context of product improvement and/or methodologies for Vibroacoustics for Rolling Stock. This includes management of resources and budget respecting the quality, cost and delay of R&D deliverables.
  • To develop innovative methodologies to be applied as a standard in the design process of rolling stock.
Educational requirement
  • Engineering degree (BSc/MSc) or physicist with specialization in Vibroacoustic, acoustics, vibration, NVH
Experience
  • More than 5 years of experience in a Vibroacoustic department in automotive/aeronautics/railway/building sector in the context of Product Developement and R&D assignments
  • Vibroacoustic simulation with simplified methodologies (monopole type sources model)
  • Vibroacoustic testing and postprocessing with multichannel systems (B&K Pulse, Siemens Test lab or similar) including noise & vibration measurements in operating conditions and Vibroacoustic transfer functions (mobility, pressure/force and Intensimetry measurements to characterize noise source)
  • General project management : budget estimation and follow up, risk analysis and monitoring, milestone review with forecast and commitment.
  • Optionnaly : 3D based simulation methodologies (FEM, BEM, ray tracing)
  • Optionally : Experimental Modal analysis and Transfer Path Analysis, Sound quality analysis
  • Matlab standard level is appreciated
  • English fluent and strong multi-cultural working environement
  • Willingness to travel for test

The position is located in St Ouen, ALSTOM headquarter next to Paris.

The applicant will join a team of 7 acoustic engineers and a network of more than 60 acoustic engineer worldwide.
