A leading transport solutions provider is seeking a full-time Train Architect Manager in Saint-Ouen. You will manage train architecture and deliver high-quality mechanical solutions for rolling stock projects. You’ll lead a team of designers and ensure compliance with project commitments while working collaboratively across various departments. Ideal candidates should possess a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering and at least 5 years of experience in mechanical integration within engineering, particularly in the railways sector.

Could you be the full-time Train Architect Manager in Saint-Ouen (near Paris) we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your mechanical engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and supportive teammates.

You'll play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical solutions for rolling stock projects and tenders, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and delivery commitments. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams across the business (including manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D), contribute to the continuous improvement of our processes, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of defining trainset architecture and robust mechanical designs within train environments, but also lead the mechanical domain deliverables with a team of mechanical designers (9-12 people).

Responsibilities
  • Managing train architecture (definition, verification, validation & certification)
  • Controlling the physical architecture governance
  • Piloting layout definition and mechanical transversal performance activities
  • Defining physical architecture as the best balance between customer requirements, platform requirements (incl. carry over level), métier technical policy and cost constraints
  • Managing directly main layouts considering relevant constraints (lighting, passenger flow, corrosion,...)
  • Animating Project Preferred Parts List
  • Animating physical architecture and train level digital mock-up reviews
  • Managing the definition of train physical architecture
  • Ensuring conformity to project requirements including platform/product assets
  • Ensuring convergence with train aesthetical definition
  • Specifying physical constraints and mechanical transversal performances to SSG
  • Controlling the SSG development convergence towards related specifications
  • Ensuring train level validation and certification
  • Producing internal & customer tender deliverables and piloting complete mechanical MLE
Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical integration within an engineering department, preferably in the railways sector
  • General knowledge of project management (quality, cost, delay)
  • Development process and governance knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of detailed train mechanical architecture including knowledge on: interior design, mechanical integration, general studies and related technologies (e.g., aluminum profiles, composites, sheet metal)
  • Ability to share vision and strategy with all development stakeholders (other domains inside and outside engineering)
  • Proficiency in Catia V5 / V6 for modeling and PDM solutions for managing digital mock-ups (e.g., DMA, Enovia, Teamcenter, PLM4A)
  • Knowledge of design to cost and design to manufacturability
  • Expertise in stack-up analysis and drawing rules
  • Ability to independently design 3D mechanical concepts from scratch
  • Solid technical background in mechanically welded structures and sheet metal
  • A structured and organized hands-on approach
  • Sense of urgency / Priority
  • Time management and reporting skills
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including with third parties (customer satisfaction oriented)
  • Resilient
  • Multidisciplinary team management and animation
  • Professional-level English (both written and spoken) to lead technical meetings and documentation
