Alstom in Villeurbanne is seeking a System Engineer to join the Perception program, helping to develop advanced sensors and software architectures for driver assistance up to full train autonomy.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team across architects, validation, and software/electronics, defining system specifications and supporting prototype validation.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or master’s degree with hardware/software development experience.
• Experience in system engineering (architecture and interfaces).
• Knowledge or interest in perception/autonomous systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
• Flexibility and willingness to travel for assignments in France or abroad.
• Attention to detail, team spirit, and customer satisfaction orientation.
• Comfortable with new technologies and tools.
• A valid driving license.
• Fluency in both French and English.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your system engineering expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside a young, multidisciplinary, and motivated team, contributing to shaping the future of mobility by developing advanced solutions for Perception systems supporting driver assistance up to full train autonomy.

These systems combine advanced sensors (cameras, radars, LiDAR, GNSS, odometry, and other onboard data sources) with real-time software architectures to enable trains to perceive and understand their surroundings, detect obstacles, accurately localize themselves, and support or automate driving operations.

You’ll play a key role in analyzing needs and requirements (both internal and external) and formalizing and maintaining system specifications (operational, functional, and construction) within the Perception program that you will coordinate in collaboration with internal development teams. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (system architects, validation and verification teams, software and electronic engineers), collaborate with partners in innovation and perception-related programs, participate in the design and specification of systems, and support laboratory and on-site testing activities.

You’ll specifically take care of conceptual design, including system models, design studies, interfaces, and prototypes, but also support the validation strategy for prototypes.
