Job summary

Leonardo Belgium is seeking a Security System Engineer to drive secure systems across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments. The role focuses on stability, security, and operational readiness within a highly regulated, international context.

Responsibilities include admin of enterprise systems, HA, backups, DR, and infrastructure hardening, with automation via Ansible and collaboration with DevOps and security teams to modernize infrastructure. Fluent English is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, Infrastructure Administration, IT, or related field; alternative paths with proven experience considered.
• Several years of professional experience in system engineering or infrastructure administration in secure environments.
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications are highly appreciated.

Job description

You will:

• Implement and manage high-availability solutions, backup strategies, and Disaster Recovery procedures to guarantee business continuity
• Lead infrastructure hardening initiatives in compliance with stringent cybersecurity policies and standards
• Automate routine system administration tasks and configuration management processes
• Troubleshoot incidents, ensuring minimal downtime for critical infrastructure
• Collaborate closely with DevOps and Security teams to support infrastructure modernization

Experience / Education / Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, System Engineering, Infrastructure Administration, Information Technology, or a related field, would be appreciated, but alternative educational paths with proven experience will be considered as well
• Several years of professional experience in System engineering or Infrastructure Administration, with exposure to secure environments
• Relevant certifications, in particular related to cybersecurity, are highly appreciated

Successful candidates would typically have

• Strong expertise in Windows Server and/or Linux (RHEL, CentOS) administration
• Robust experience with virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware vSphere) and Active Directory / Entra ID
• Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g. Ansible)
• Proven experience in the management of security of systems and infrastructure
• Structured, analytical mindset with a proactive approach to infrastructure stability and security
• Fluent in English, with excellent communication skills for international collaboration

Nice to have

• Experience with access management technologies is considered a plus
• Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Previous exposure to EU Institutions, NATO, or other regulated environments.
• French, Dutch, and/or Italian language skills.
