Mission

You will be part of the System Engineering team whose mission is to bring disruptive technological modules developed by expert scientists into functional prototypes and early development systems. You will work at the interface of technical engineering and process / bio engineering. You will be involved in the innovation and development of engineering systems and solutions. Our main technology recently released from R&D stages, being deployed for cell therapy manufacturing under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), is an encapsulator for stem cells.

You will be reporting directly to the System Engineering Team Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As System Development Engineering, you will be involved in developing, testing, and validating encapsulation technologies and their submodules with a strong focus on reliability demonstration. The role includes leading the design and testing of sub-modules, working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders. You will design experimental plans, test methods and use statistical analysis for both prototypes and final systems to ensure system robustness and long‑term performance.

Your missions will be:

1. Perform experiments of submodules for encapsulation technology (80%)

  • Plan, execute and lead experimental campaigns of submodule prototypes, both internally and with external partners, to support the development and verification of technologies.
  • Develop and implement rigorous experimental plans (DoE), test protocols, and verification methods to characterize system performance, reliability, and robustness under all operating conditions.
  • Apply risk‑based approaches (DFMEA) to identify and mitigate potential reliability issues early in the design process.
  • Conduct stress, testing under limits, and extreme conditions to identify potential failure modes and performance boundaries.
  • Analyze data using statistical and reliability tools to extract actionable insights and quantify confidence and performance.
  • Document findings in detailed technical reports and present results, recommendations, and design implications to cross‑functional teams.
2. Coordinate and develop tools and test benches (20%)
  • Coordinate prototype development activities with external design offices and internal stakeholders.
  • Together with mechanical engineering, design and build custom test benches and data acquisition systems to evaluate submodule robustness, repeatability, and long‑term stability.
  • Contribute to the definition of system‑level reliability validation plans and statistical test strategies for new developments.
PROFILE

As a trained engineer (Generalist Engineering, Applied Physics Engineering, Fluid Mechanics Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) with 3–5 years of experience in the industry, you have hands‑on experience and engineering knowledge with instrumentation including sensor integration, calibration, data acquisition.

You have proven experience in system testing, experimental design and reliability engineering.

You have a solid background in fluid mechanics and its application to complex mechatronics systems.

You worked on developing complex systems and have both experimental and project management skills with knowledge of system design principles across mechanical, electrical and automation domains (multidisciplinary understanding is a plus).

You are proficient in data analysis and statistical tools (Python, MATLAB, Prism) and you demonstrated analytical and problem‑solving skills with a structured and data‑driven approach.

You are fluent in English.

You are strongly motivated to solve complex problems with elegant and simple engineering solutions. Guided by the 20% effort / 80% results principle, you are comfortable managing multiple projects and interlocutors simultaneously.

You have a solid engineering and project management record, and you are autonomous, conscientious, and you feel capable to develop long‑term projects in an innovative environment.
