Job summary

Diabolocom is seeking a technically strong Database Engineer to build, operate and improve stateful services behind our AI-powered customer communications platform. The role focuses on PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, RabbitMQ and Kafka/Redpanda in an on-premise heavy, hybrid Paris setup.

You will own specific projects with the Stateful Services Lead, collaborate with Engineering, SRE and Infrastructure teams, and contribute to reliability, scale and performance of critical databases.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience as a DBA/Database Engineer or similar role.
• Deep PostgreSQL expertise including upgrades, backups, replication and performance tuning.
• Understanding of high availability, disaster recovery and maintenance minimisation during updates.
• Experience with distributed systems, replication and consistency challenges at scale.
• Experience on on-premise infrastructure or readiness to work in bare-metal environments.
• Proficient system design skills for scalable, reliable architectures.
• Ability to automate, monitor and troubleshoot stateful services and incidents.
• Excellent English communication; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain stateful services (PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka/Redpanda).
• Design and evolve database infrastructure; manage 50+ PostgreSQL clusters.
• Improve maintenance, upgrades and migrations to be safer and less disruptive.
• Enhance high availability, replication, backup/restores and DR across systems.
• Implement cross-data-center automatic failover and robust recovery procedures.
• Improve queueing infrastructure (RabbitMQ quorum-based configurations).
• Collaborate with development teams to meet their DB needs and reliability goals.
• Participate in on-call and incident management.
