Group Overview: Within GE (General Electric) Renewable Energy, Grid Solutions develops solutions to efficiently manage a rapidly evolving global electrical grid, facing ever‑increasing performance, environmental, and cost constraints. The Aix‑les‑Bains facility, with a workforce of 800, specialises in the production of gas‑insulated metal‑enclosed substations designed for the protection and transmission of high‑voltage electricity. Its activities cover all aspects of the business, from product design, marketing, engineering, and production to commissioning and after‑sales service at the customer’s site.

In the context of the digitalisation of traceability for the assembly and test results of GIS (Gas‑Insulated Switchgear) products, the intern will be responsible for mapping the traceability process and developing digitalisation tools (controls, test results, part traceability, etc.) linked to the manufacturing and assembly process to ensure complete and seamless traceability.

Internship Description

Integrated into the Quality team at the Aix‑les‑Bains site, the intern will work with various departments (Production, R&D, Engineering, etc.) on the following projects:

• Understanding the manufacturing and testing processes, internal/customer needs, and mapping traceability requirements across suppliers, factory, and site.
• Developing and proposing reliable IT tools (Excel VBA, databases, etc.) to facilitate the entry of test results, the generation of automatic reports, the automatic calculation of criteria and results, and data storage in a data lake.
• Establishing a test criteria database in conjunction with the engineering and R&D departments, defining future format harmonisation between the created tools and the specifications.
• Defining simplified data entry logic, minimising re‑entry, the risk of errors or omissions, and facilitating integration with the existing ERP software.
• Implementing testing phases, including tool validation and advanced debugging.
• Establishing user procedures.
• Implementing the system on the production lines.

Specific Skills Required

• General engineering degree with strong IT skills, or equivalent experience/knowledge. Ability to identify needs and the resources required to implement solutions that align with industrial processes and real‑world conditions. Pragmatic, multidisciplinary approach.
• Proficiency in standard IT tools (Excel, Access databases) and programming languages (VBA, Python, SQL, etc.).
• Knowledge of databases (Microsoft Access, etc.) and ERP software.

Desired Skills

• Knowledge of SAP software.
• Knowledge of other programming languages (SQL, PHP, C#, Python, etc.) may be an asset.

Required Qualities

• Willingness to learn about the quality/production environment, the world of high‑voltage networks, and knowledge of GIS products.

Required Education Level

Engineering School/Specialised Master’s Degree – Bac+4/+5/+6.
