Ball Corporation is seeking a Back End Engineer to support and improve back-end production processes across regional sites. You will provide technical expertise for installations, audits, troubleshooting, maintenance optimization, and capital projects, partnering with plant leadership, engineering teams, suppliers, and global stakeholders to ensure excellence and continuous improvement.

The role requires mechanical engineering background, strong problem-solving, and English fluency.

Qualificações

• Mechanical engineering education or equivalent practical experience.
• Fluency in English; additional European languages are a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Provide engineering support for capital projects, process improvements, and efficiency initiatives in Back End operations.
• Assist plants with technical problem-solving, equipment optimization, and best practices implementation.
• Drive standardization of processes and maintenance across regional sites.
• Keep facilities informed about the latest process technologies and maintenance standards.
• Deliver technical reports after site visits, audits, investigations, and support activities.
• Collaborate with suppliers and OEM partners to improve equipment performance and maintenance strategies.
• Deliver technical training and guidance to plant engineering and production teams.
• Identify root causes of maintenance cost overruns and implement corrective actions.
• Manage small-scale engineering and plant improvement projects.
• Coordinate with Global Engineering to establish and update maintenance standards.

Position Overview

The Back End Engineer plays a key role in supporting and improving back-end production processes across regional manufacturing sites. This position provides technical expertise for installations, audits, troubleshooting, maintenance optimization, best practice implementation, innovation initiatives, and capital projects. The role partners closely with plant leadership, engineering teams, suppliers, and global engineering stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, process standardization, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Providing engineering expertise to support capital projects, process improvements, efficiency enhancements, and spoilage reduction initiatives within Back End operations.
• Supporting manufacturing plants with technical problem-solving, equipment optimization, and implementation of best operating practices.
• Driving process and maintenance standardization for Decorators, Inside Sprays, Neckers, and Palletisers across regional sites.
• Ensuring manufacturing facilities remain informed about the latest process technologies, maintenance standards, and industry best practices.
• Assisting plants in achieving operational, production, quality, and cost performance targets.
• Preparing detailed technical reports following site visits, audits, investigations, and support activities.
• Collaborating with equipment suppliers and OEM partners to support equipment performance, maintenance strategies, and process improvements.
• Delivering technical training and guidance to plant engineering and production personnel.
• Identifying root causes of maintenance cost overruns and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
• Managing and supporting small-scale engineering and plant improvement projects.
• Working closely with Global Engineering teams to establish, review, and implement maintenance standards and best practices.

What are we looking for?

• Vocational or technical education in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical processes related to the back end of a two-piece beverage can manufacturing plant.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within international and cross-functional teams.
• Experience leading technical projects and coordinating engineering activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Fluency in English.
• Additional European languages would be considered an advantage.
• Self-motivated, self-managing approach with a strong focus on delivering results.
• Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and knowledge sharing.
