Loft Orbital is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to serve as the subject matter expert for mission and product teams. You will own mechanical analysis budgets, develop detailed drawings and 3D models, and oversee structural and thermal analysis for small payloads and spacecraft.

You will collaborate with customers and suppliers, prepare test plans, and review environmental test reports, while ensuring designs meet ECSS/NASA-like standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 5+ years in spacecraft subsystems, payloads, and mechanical design.
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Experience with vibration testing and spacecraft thermal testing.

Responsabilités

• Lead mechanical analysis for Loft missions and manage analysis budgets.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings and 3D models using CAD software.
• Review engineering documents and hardware during inspections and design reviews.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis of small payload components and spacecraft.
• Support AIT of space missions and procure MGSE as needed.
• Collaborate with customers and subcontractors as mechanical point of contact.
