Infinite Orbits is seeking a Software Quality Engineer in Toulouse to define and deploy software quality processes across development teams. You will tailor ECSS requirements, establish QA plans, and ensure traceability and compliance, while driving improvements and audits for complex space projects.

You will work cross-functionally to shape methods, tools, and practices, ensuring reproducible quality and robust verification across platforms and missions.

Qualifications

• Engineering or university degree in computer science, software, embedded systems, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in software development and/or software quality assurance.
• Experience in high quality environments such as space, aerospace, defense or critical systems.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ECSS standards (ECSS-E-ST-40, ECSS-Q-ST-80).
• Good understanding of configuration management, traceability, requirements and testing.
• Quality audit experience is highly valued.

Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions

\"Orbit Guard\" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO.

\"Endurance\" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.

About the Role

As part of the development of embedded software for satellites, we are looking for a Software Quality Engineer responsible for structuring, deploying, and evolving software quality assurance practices within the company, with the goal of formalizing and industrializing the processes, in order to guarantee a reproducible level of quality, better traceability, and compliance with applicable standards, particularly ECSS and ISO 9001.

The role is both operational and cross-functional : it is not just about checking the quality of developments, but about directly contributing to the definition of the methods, processes, tools, and practices.

Job Description

Definition and deployment of the software quality process:

Define, document, and maintain software development and quality assurance processes.

Break down the quality requirements applicable to software projects.

Participate in the tailoring of ECSS requirements based on project characteristics.

Set up quality and Software Product Assurance plans adapted to the projects.

Define the entry/exit criteria for the various phases of the development cycle.

Ensure consistency between development, verification, validation, and configuration management practices.

Quality assurance and compliance:

Verify the effective application of processes on projects.

Prepare and conduct internal reviews and audits.

Identify deviations, non-conformities, and quality risks.

Contribute to the preparation of customer audits and certification audits.

Traceability and documentation.

Verification and validation of strategies, tests and environments.

Continuous improvement of practices and internal framework across projects.

Requirements

Engineering or university degree in computer science, software, embedded systems, or an equivalent field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in software development and/or software quality assurance.

Experience in environments with strong quality constraints, ideally: space; aerospace; defense; automotive or other critical systems.

Good knowledge of software development lifecycles and V&V processes.

Experience setting up or improving quality processes.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ECSS standards, ideally ECSS-E-ST-40 and ECSS-Q-ST-80.

Good understanding of configuration management, traceability, requirements, testing, and anomaly management issues.

Quality audit experience strongly appreciated.

French nationality is required due to restricted-access projects.
