Owkin in Paris is seeking a Software Engineering / ML Engineering Intern to join the K Pro team for a 6-month internship. You will support the development of Owkin's digital pathology capabilities by integrating pathology data and AI-powered analysis into the K Pro platform.

You will contribute to Pathology Explorer, build scalable data ingestion pipelines for H&E slides, extend multimodal capabilities, and develop interactive visualization and analysis tools within Pathology Explorer.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, ML, or related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Solid foundations in software engineering and/or data engineering, with interest in scalable pipelines and production-ready capabilities.
• Interest in digital pathology, multimodal data and translational research applications.
• Good communication skills, able to work with cross-functional teams and non-technical users.
• Fluent in English (working language).

Responsabilités

• Contribute to Pathology Explorer (K Pro's whole-slide-image microservice) enabling interactive exploration of histology data and pathology-derived features.
• Help build scalable data ingestion pipelines for H&E-stained whole-slide images and derived features; extend multimodal capabilities combining digital pathology with spatial transcriptomics; improve MIL pipelines for pathology analysis; develop interactive visualization and analysis tools within Pathology Explorer.

About the role:

We are looking for a Software Engineering / Machine Learning Engineering Intern to join the K Pro team for a 6‑month internship. You will support the development of Owkin's digital pathology capabilities by integrating pathology data and AI‑powered analysis into the K Pro platform.

In particular, you will:

• contribute to Pathology Explorer (K Pro's whole‑slide‑image microservice enabling interactive exploration of histology data and pathology‑derived features).
• help build scalable data ingestion pipelines for Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E)-stained whole‑slide images and derived features, extend multimodal capabilities combining digital pathology with spatial transcriptomics, improve Multiple Instance Learning (MIL) pipelines for pathology analysis, and develop interactive visualization and analysis tools within Pathology Explorer.
• your work will directly contribute to integrating Owkin's digital pathology expertise into K Pro and supporting real‑world translational research use cases.

About you

Required qualifications / experience:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Machine Learning (ML), or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Solid foundations in software engineering and/or data engineering, with an interest in building scalable pipelines and production‑ready capabilities.
• Interest in digital pathology, multimodal data and translational research applications.
• Good communication skills, comfortable working with cross‑functional teams and non‑technical users.
• Fluent in English (working language)

Preferred qualifications/bonus:

• Experience in ML (with a preference for computer vision skills) and familiarity with ML frameworks (PyTorch, scikit‑learn)
