Job summary

Scaleway in Lille, France, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build automation and orchestration tools for Bare Metal infrastructure at scale. You will collaborate with SRE, Network, Datacenter and Supply Chain teams to automate deployments, manage hardware lifecycle and improve CI/CD through Python and Go.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in Software/Infrastructure Engineering or similar roles.
• Strong development skills in Python and/or Go.
• Solid experience with Linux systems (Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat).
• Hands-on experience with infra provisioning, deployment automation or server lifecycle management.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, GitLab and infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, K3s, FluxCD and SOPS.
• Understanding of infra protocols (DNS, DHCP, NTP, TFTP, HTTP(S)).
• Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana and Elastic Stack.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to automation of new Availability Zone and region deployments.
• Build and improve software to manage hardware lifecycle, from provisioning to operations.

WHY WE NEED YOU?

As Scaleway continues to scale its cloud infrastructure, we are strengthening our engineering team to automate and industrialize the deployment and management of our Bare Metal infrastructure.

As a Senior Software Engineer, your mission will be to design and build the automation and orchestration tools that power our physical infrastructure, from server provisioning to hardware lifecycle management.

You will play a key role in enabling the deployment of new Availability Zones and regions at scale, reducing manual operations and improving the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of our infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to tackle complex engineering challenges at the intersection of software development, infrastructure automation and large-scale distributed systems

YOUR FUTURE TEAM

You will join a team of 6 engineers responsible for developing and maintaining the orchestration systems behind Scaleway's Bare Metal infrastructure.

The team works closely with Supply Chain, Network, Datacenter and SRE teams to automate infrastructure operations and support the deployment of new Availability Zones.

We operate with a strong culture of ownership and knowledge sharing.

YOUR DAILY ROUTINE

• Design, develop and maintain automation and orchestration tools for Bare Metal server provisioning at scale.
• Contribute to the automation of new Availability Zone and region deployments, minimizing manual intervention and dependencies between teams.
• Build and improve software solutions to manage the hardware lifecycle, from server qualification and provisioning to ongoing operations.
• Develop reliable, maintainable and scalable applications using Python and/or Go.
• Improve the resilience, performance and observability of our infrastructure orchestration systems.
• Collaborate with Network, Datacenter, Supply Chain and SRE teams to solve complex infrastructure challenges.
• Drive improvements in CI/CD, infrastructure automation and deployment processes.
• Contribute to architectural decisions, share technical knowledge and continuously improve engineering practices.

ABOUT YOU

Hardskills :

• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or similar roles, ideally within large-scale production environments.
• Strong development skills in Python and/or Go.
