Job summary

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
• At least 9 years of professional experience in system engineering and IT infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of VMware, O/S administration and storage solutions.
• Experience with Red Hat, Windows Server, AD/LDAP and cert management.
• Proven ability in automation (Ansible, PowerShell) and DevOps tooling.

Responsibilities

• IT support, design and troubleshooting for large server and storage environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot virtual environments (VMware vSphere/vSAN, Horizon).
• Design and administer backups (VEEAM, StoreOnce) and storage (SAN, CEPH).
• Manage OCP platform with supporting tools (Red Hat Service Mesh, GitHub, Helm, GitOps).
• Develop and troubleshoot scripts (Ansible, PowerShell).
• Administer networking, mail relays, and security policies; ensure compliance.
• ServiceNow integrations and data import/export across ITSM/ITOM/ITAM/CMDB.
• Monitor platform health (Nagios, Splunk, Grafana) and drive reliability improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Our client within the European Institutions is currently looking for a Senior System Engineering Specialist to work on IT support, design and troubleshooting ranging from large Server, SAN farms to complex platforms.

Tasks:

• IT support, design and troubleshooting ranging from large Server, SAN farms to complex platforms;
• Configuration/Troubleshooting of Virtual environments: VMware vSphere, vSAN, Horizon;
• Server management, Operating System (OS) knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows);
• Design, implementation and administration of backup and restore on solutions like VEEAM and StoreOnce;
• Administration of servers, bladesystems and composable infrastructure;
• Administration of Storage systems on traditional SAN, CEPH and VSAN;
• Managing OCP platform in DEVOPS mode with related supporting systems like Red Hat Service Mesh, GitHub, Helm, GitOps, Ansible Automation Platform, Kafka;
• Development, execution and troubleshooting of Ansible and Powershell scripts;
• PKI and certifcate administration;
• Administration of monitoring systems like Nagios, Splunk;
• Administration of Oracle infrastructure, namely EXADATA and ZDRLA;
• Administration of mail servers and mail relays (postfx), anti-virus and anti-spam;
• Centralized deployment of software and updates.
• Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow integrations with internal and external systems using REST, SOAP, JDBC, and other protocols.
• Configure and manage data imports/exports, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance.
• Build reusable components- such as Flow Designer subfows and UI policies to accelerate future development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions within ServiceNow.
• Conduct system and integration testing using the Automated Test Framework (ATF) to ensure reliability and scalability.
• Monitor platform health, usage, and compliance, proactively identifying and resolving issues. Work will include customisations and integrations of the following modules: ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, etc...

Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years of relevant education (master or equivalent) after the secondary school.
• Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience
• Knowledge and experience with HW management, racking, cabling, replacement, FW upgrades;
• HW/SW inventory and confguration management;
• Advanced knowledge and experience with VMWare (vSphere, vSAN, Horizon);
• Knowledge and experience with managing Oracle HW;
• Knowledge and advanced experience in Redhat, Windows OS administration of large farms;
• Active Directory (AD) / LDAP and Keycloak Management;
• Network Attached Storage (NAS) and distributed fle systems;
• Centralized IT security policy management;
• Knowledge and experience in administration of servers, bladesystems and composable infrastructure;
• Knowledge and experience in administration of Backup & Storage systems (VEEAM, StoreOnce, vSAN, traditional SAN andCEPH);
• Advanced script development and troubleshooting skills (Ansible, PowerShell);
• Experience in software compliance monitoring and enforcement;
• Advanced knowledge of OCP platform administration with supporting tools like Red Hat Service Mesh, GitHub, Helm, GitOps,
• Ansible Automation Platform, Kafka;
• Knowledge to support mail servers and mail relays (postfx), antivirus and anti-spam;
• Basic knowledge on DB systems, MS SQL, Oracle and Elastic search;
• Knowledge and experience with monitoring and observability systems (confguration, customisation, further development),
• Prometheus, Grafana, ElasticSearch, Fluentd, Kibana, Jaeger, NAGIOS and Splunk;
• Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills;
• Experience in managing highly available environments and multiple site support;
• Familiar with ITIL/ITIL V3 processes, in particular incident, change, capacity and confguration management.
• Proven experience with REST/SOAP integrations, authentication methods (OAuth, Basic Auth), and data transformation.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, CMDB, and Flow Designer, including implementations of change velocity and external tools integrations.
• Experience with on-prem implementations a true advantage.
• ServiceNow Administrator/Implementer/Developer certifcations are a plus.
