Alice & Bob is building the first universal fault-tolerant quantum computer. You will design and validate RF hardware and measurement benches to ensure precision and scalability for qubit control systems.

Reporting to the Hermes Team Lead, you’ll work with physicists and software engineers, using Python for test automation and remote instrument control, and contribute to a rapidly scaling quantum hardware platform in France.

Qualifications

• Master's or higher in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Physics or related field.
• 5+ years of RF design, characterization, and control electronics experience.
• Strong RF design and signal processing skills with hands-on PCB design and 3D EM tools.

Responsabilités

• Design custom RF hardware (power amplifiers, LNAs, filters, bias tees) and PCB front-ends with 3D EM validation.
• Define measurement plans and build test setups and benches; run V&V with VNAs, oscilloscopes, SMUs, spectrum analyzers.

Behind every stable qubit is a chain of RF hardware that has to perform flawlessly — and that's what you'll be building.

In a context of rapid scale-up of Alice & Bob's quantum processors, you'll ensure that control electronics and RF instrumentation keep pace with the growing demands of qubit control. Reporting to the HERMES Team Lead, our electronics and systems integration team, you'll design, build and validate test setups and characterization benches — and, where existing commercial solutions fall short, design custom RF hardware (power amplifiers, LNAs, filters, bias tees) — to guarantee that every piece of equipment meets the precision and scalability needs of our quantum chip design teams.

Responsabilities

• Design custom RF hardware (power amplifiers, LNAs, filters, bias tees) and PCB front-ends where commercial solutions fall short, using 3D EM simulation to validate designs before prototyping
• Define measurement plans and build test setups and characterization benches, running V&V (mostly in Python) with VNAs, oscilloscopes, SMUs, and spectrum analyzers
• Design or upgrade existing RF/DC systems to evolving requirements (spectral purity, pulse shape, power stability) following the scale up of quantum processors and control channels
• Troubleshoot technical issues across instrumentation, control electronics, and PCB hardware, driving root-cause analysis when needed
• Work closely with Quantum Hardware Infra colleagues, physicists, and software engineers, keep an eye on the state of the art, and document your work as you go

Requirements

• Master's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, RF/Microwave Engineering, Physics, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in RF design, characterization, and control electronics, including PCB design
• Strong RF design and signal processing skills (signal integrity, modulation/demodulation, filtering, noise/distortion analysis), with hands‑on experience designing RF PCBs and using 3D EM simulation tools
• Comfortable with FPGA integration for control electronics, and with RF/electrical test equipment (VNAs, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, SMUs, signal generators)
• Python skills for test automation and remote instrument control (e.g. SCPI)
• Strong troubleshooting mindset and root‑cause analysis skills
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
• Proficient in English; French is a plus

Nice to have

• Experience with cryogenic or quantum environments, knowledge of KiCad/Altium/HFSS, scientific writing
