Job summary

Metric Bio in Nice, France, is seeking a Senior Design & Development Engineer to own the mechanical and electromechanical design of a surgical robotic platform. The role offers relocation support and an on-site work setting in Nice.

You will lead hardware architecture, drive V&V activities, maintain Design History Files (DHF) and design reviews, and collaborate with multidisciplinary R&D teams to advance next-generation robotic technologies.

Qualifications

• Strong background in mechanical design and electromechanical product development, ideally within regulated medical devices.
• Advanced 3D CAD experience, mechanical assemblies and GD&T.
• Proven experience with design controls, ISO 14971 risk management, DHF documentation and V&V.

Responsibilities

• Lead hardware architecture and detailed mechanical design of robotic systems, including actuators, transmissions, sensors and assemblies.
• Own design changes, engineering documentation, risk assessments and design reviews.
• Develop and execute verification and validation activities, including bench and simulated-use testing.

I'm hiring a Senior Design & Development Engineer to join an innovative medical technology company developing next-generation robotic systems for minimally invasive procedures.

This is an opportunity to take significant ownership of the mechanical and electromechanical design of a surgical robotic platform, contributing to both existing technology and next-generation product development.

The Role

• Lead hardware architecture and detailed mechanical design of robotic systems, including actuators, transmissions, sensors and mechanical assemblies.
• Own design changes, engineering documentation, risk assessments and design reviews.
• Develop and execute verification and validation (V&V) activities, including bench and simulated-use testing.

What I'm Looking For

• Strong background in mechanical design and electromechanical product development, ideally within regulated medical devices.

• Ability to independently own complex engineering projects from requirements through design and verification.
