UNEP - United Nations Environment Programme in Paris invites applications for a Senior Programme Management Officer. The role oversees science-based policy advice, budget coordination, and staff leadership within the Industry and Economy Division, emphasising sustainable materials management and circular economy.

The incumbent will coordinate with the Industry Innovation Branch to advance policy-relevant research, manage resources, and mentor teams while ensuring gender equality and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree in natural resources science or equivalent is required; a combination with qualifying experience may be accepted.
• A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Responsabilités

• Supports the preparation and review of scientific studies, assessments and knowledge products of the International Resource Panel on sustainable use of natural resources and materials.
• Provides methodological advice on life cycle approaches and circularity metrics for engagement with industry and finance stakeholders.
• Ensures integration of research and analysis across stakeholders to enable practical policy relevance.
• Strengthens the science–policy interface on resource and material production and consumption in global, regional and national policy processes.
• Leverages opportunities to inform policy and business discourse on sustainable consumption, circular economy and life cycle approaches.
