We are looking for a Senior Process Safety Expert with a main responsibility in providing process safety services to support engineering design, development and project completion in power plant development and delivery projects. The preferred location for this position is Paris, France or one of the Wärtsilä offices in Finland (possible locations Vaasa, Helsinki or Turku). We offer a possibility to hybrid work.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Process Safety Expert your work will include:

• Safeguarding that safety in design is executed according to contract specifications and design directives as a member of a project team
• Guiding project organization how to comply to process safety standards and regulations
• Personally providing leadership, counsel, and technical assistance to Technology department to attain the safety targets.
• Managing the Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs) like HAZID (Hazard Identification), HAZOP & LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis) in concept development and for delivery projects
• Writing and maintaining effective safety philosophies and safety procedures

The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of multicultural and open-minded Process Engineering & Safety team with diverse expertise.

Requirements for the position:

• M.Sc. in Process Engineering or similar, with proven track record in process safety engineering
• Deep knowledge of process safety standards and practices
• Expertise in Process Hazard Assessments (PHAs) like HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA (Quantified Risk Analysis), FRA (Fire Risk Assessment), developing and implementing Safety Philosophies, and assessing equipment reliability (mechanical integrity) systems.
• Minimum 10 years of experience of process safety engineering

Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:

• Being self-going and motivated to learn and grow professionally
• Good communication, negotiations and team working skills
• Ability to understand and work with diverse cultures
• Good written and oral skills in English
• Capability to efficiently produce technical documents in English.
