Prose is seeking a Senior Full-stack Engineer to design, build, and ship the systems behind Singular, our proprietary AI-powered platform powering personalized beauty experiences. You’ll join a compact, senior engineering team owning end-to-end features across backend and frontend, with ownership from idea to production delivery.

You'll contribute to architecture, AI- augmented development, and collaboration with product, design, data, and operations to drive checkout, manufacturing, and order

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend experience with Python and Django/Rest Framework.
• Solid frontend experience with React and the JS/TS ecosystem.
• Cloud-native experience: GCP, Docker, CI/CD.
• Fluency in English.

Position Summary

Prose is seeking a Senior Full-stack Engineer to design, build, and ship the systems behind Singular, our proprietary platform. You'll be part of our Tech organization that designs, builds, and delivers both platform capabilities and product features that power Prose's personalized beauty experience — from the consultation and e-commerce journey to the manufacturing systems that turn every order into a physical, made-to-order product in our NYC and LA facilities. We are a deliberately compact, senior engineering team. Every engineer owns a broad scope, ships to production continuously, and works with AI-augmented development practices as a core part of the craft. You'll join at a moment where we're evolving toward a modular architecture with clearly separated domains, and you'll have a real voice in those design decisions. Few engineering teams get to ship code that ends as a physical product formulated for one specific person. Key Responsibilities

• Build & Ship
  • Design, build, and ship features end to end across our stack: Python/Django services and REST APIs on the backend, React applications on the frontend.
  • Own quality on your scope: automated testing, peer review, observability, and production monitoring.
  • Identify and address areas of technical debt, implementing improvements to enhance system performance and maintainability.
• Architecture & Technical Direction
  • Contribute to our architecture evolution: domain boundaries, data schemas, event-driven patterns, and the tradeoffs of a platform serving both e-commerce and manufacturing.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and system design decisions.
  • Advance our AI implementation across the tech org: make AI-augmented development part of your daily practice, and help shape our agents, skills, and internal tooling rather than just consuming them.
• Collaboration & Impact
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, data, and operations stakeholders to deliver high-quality features — our scope touches everything from checkout conversion to factory throughput.
  • Bring visibility to ongoing work, risks, and dependencies.
  • Mentor other engineers and raise the team's bar through design and code review.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing across the team.

Key Candidate Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time on both backend and frontend in production systems.
• Strong backend experience with Python, along with common libraries such as Django, Rest Framework, FastAPI.
• Solid modern frontend experience with React and the current JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem.
• Deep understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application.
• A knack for writing clean, readable, and maintainable code.
• Hands-on AI fluency and a genuine interest in AI-assisted engineering workflows.
• Comfortable with cloud-native environments: GCP, Docker, CI/CD.
• Pragmatic mindset, knowing when to invest in perfection, and when to build a PoC.
• Autonomous on your scope: you own outcomes, elevate when needed, and don't wait to be told what to do.
• Prior experience in B2C, e-commerce, manufacturing is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required.

• Competitive base salary — 60.000–70.000€ based on experience

Timeline

From first contact to final decision: ~3 weeks

Recruiter Screen — (30–45 min, remote)

A first conversation with our dedicated recruiter. He'll walk you through the role, Prose's context, and assess your background and motivations.

Engineering Interview — 1 hour (on-site)

Meet an Engineering leader from the team. We'll walk you through the Tech vision, ongoing initiatives, and how the team works day to day — and dig into your experience and technical background.

Live Case — 1 hour 30 (on-site)

A practical exercise conducted live with the team — no take-home assignment. We'll walk through a real-world design and coding challenge from our environment. We'll be looking at your methodology, your reasoning, and your ability to stay crisp under realistic conditions.

HR Interview — 1 hour (on-site)

A conversation with Sabrina Gavois, VP People & Culture. We'll explore your mindset, values, and cultural fit with Prose.

CTO Interview — 45 min

A final conversation with Nicolas Valençot, Chief Technology Officer, on system thinking, ownership, and long-term technical vision.
