Space Cu in Bordeaux seeks a versatile software engineer with deep front-end expertise to join its Software Department. You will design, implement, and test the user-facing layer of the SpaceOS stack, from mission control interfaces to real-time 3D visualization and the client SDK, while extending ASP.NET Core back-end services.

The role blends front-end development with back-end integration, collaborating with UX/UI designers, building CI/CD pipelines, and sharing knowledge across teams.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong front-end focus.
• Expert proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Strong experience with React (state management, hooks, testing).
• Solid knowledge of C# and ASP.NET Core, REST and real-time APIs.
• UX sensibility and design system experience; performance and accessibility focus.
• Fluency in English for collaboration within an international team.
• Experience with 3D and real-time rendering (BabylonJS, WebGL).
• Experience with Electron, Grafana, Docker, Azure, and Azure DevOps.

We are looking for a versatile software engineer with deep expertise in front-end development to join our Software Department

About the job

We are looking for a highly versatile and highly motivated software engineer with deep expertise in front-end development to join our Software Department in Bordeaux.

You will help design, implement, and test the user-facing layer of the SpaceOS software stack that powers both our ground-based and in-orbit systems, from mission control interfaces to real-time 3D visualization and our client SDK.

While front-end development is the core of the role, you will also extend our .NET back-end services whenever needed to serve the front-end, owning features end to end.

Our current team brings strong expertise in embedded systems, cloud services, and back-end development. We are looking for someone who complements it with deep front-end and UX engineering expertise, mentors others in this area, and remains comfortable contributing across domains.

We are building a balanced team of junior and senior engineers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and continuous learning.

The position is based in Bordeaux, with occasional travel to our other sites in Luxembourg, Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy.

Key Responsibilities

Front-End Development & User Interfaces

• Lead the design and development of ground control and mission operations interfaces in React and TypeScript, in close collaboration with UX/UI designers.

• Work hand in hand with UI/UX designers throughout the product lifecycle, from user research and wireframes to prototypes and pixel-perfect implementation, providing technical feedback on feasibility and helping shape the user experience.

• Create real-time 3D visualizations of space-collected data using BabylonJS and WebGL.

• Build web and desktop (Electron) applications, as well as dashboards that turn mission data into actionable insights.

• Develop and maintain a shared component library and design system to ensure consistency across SpaceOS applications.

• Ensure front-end performance, accessibility, and reliability through automated testing (unit, integration, and end-to-end).

Back-End Integration (.NET)

• Extend and modify ASP.NET Core / C# services and APIs to serve front-end needs.

• Implement real-time data streaming to the UI

• Define and evolve API contracts together with back-end, embedded, and cloud engineers.

DevOps & Cross-Team Collaboration

• Maintain front-end CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, including automated builds, tests, and deployments.

• Work with embedded and systems engineers on the telemetry and command data models exposed in the UI

• Prototype AI-powered features that bring insights to mission operators.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

• Write and maintain technical documentation to meet quality and space (ECSS) standards.

• Collaborate with the quality lead to ensure compliance and traceability.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of development and documentation practices.

• Provide support for its usage and integration to end users.

Required Skills & Experience

• Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent.

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on front-end

• Expert proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

• Strong experience with React (state management, hooks, and testing with tools such as Jest, Playwright, or Cypress).

• Solid working knowledge of C# and ASP.NET Core, with the ability to build and modify REST and real-time APIs

• Strong UX sensibility and experience building component libraries or design systems, with attention to performance and accessibility.

• Strong collaboration and communication skills with UI/UX designers, with experience turning design tool output (e.g., Figma) into high-quality interfaces and iterating on user feedback.

• Comfortable going beyond the front-end, with curiosity for the full system, from cloud services to space hardware.

• Brings deep front-end expertise to mentor and upskill the team

• Demonstrated excellence in software development, architecture design, and quality practices.

• Demonstrated curiosity and initiative with AI both as development tools and as product features.

• Fluency in English (written and spoken) for collaboration within an international team.

• Experience with 3D and real-time rendering (BabylonJS, Three.js, WebGL).

• Experience with Electron, Grafana, Docker, Azure, and Azure DevOps.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency in French is a plus, to work comfortably in a French-speaking environment.

• Experience in aerospace or video game development.
