You will join the Data Scientist Chapter, a vibrant and international community located in Sweden (Gothenburg and Eskilstuna) and France (Lyon). Our team is part of a broader 'Data' function with over 900 members across seven countries, fostering an environment where ideas flourish and goals are achieved collaboratively. At Volvo Group Digital & IT (VG D&IT), you will contribute to the transformation of our company, the transport industry, and society at large.

In this role, you will deliver customer value by working with global stakeholders to frame problems, define success metrics, and deliver impactful solutions.

You will own the full lifecycle of machine learning and AI products, from design and build to deployment and operation, ensuring continuous maintenance and monitoring for model drift.

You will apply advanced text analytics and large language models for classification tasks, and design solutions with security, governance, and regulatory requirements in mind.

You will collaborate with experts across disciplines to deliver end-to-end data solutions and AI products for users worldwide.

Who are you?

  • Experience in statistics, machine learning, experimental design, and production patterns
  • Proficiency with platforms and tools such as Azure, Databricks, Python, SQL, and Git, with strong MLOps skills (Azure Pipelines, Databricks Jobs)
  • Understanding of cloud data and compute architecture, model packaging, dependency management, and observability
  • Commitment to high‑quality software practices, including code reviews, testing, reproducibility, infrastructure as code, and documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English and the local language

Nice to have:

  • Experience with large language models, including retrieval, prompt engineering, and evaluation frameworks
  • Background in regulated environments and industrialization of ML/AI under governance and audit
  • Domain experience in vehicle data, diagnostics, telematics, or quality/warranty analytics
  • Leadership experience in owning ML products end‑to‑end, mentoring, or leading practitioner communities
  • Advanced degree or equivalent impact, and 5+ years of applied data science experience (manufacturing, automotive, or transport preferred)
