Jobtailor in Lyon is seeking an experienced backend engineer to own and implement Node.js/TypeScript services across cross-functional projects. You will mentor junior developers, drive architecture decisions, review PRs, and refactor the codebase to improve performance, reliability and development practices while collaborating with non-technical stakeholders.

• Fluent English required and able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience communicating and collaborating across teams.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to architecture decisions.
• Interest in data engineering and analytics projects.
• Based in Lyon or nearby with office presence Tue–Thu.

Responsabilités

• Develop any part of the TypeScript codebase as needed.
• Lead the technical architecture of cross-functional projects while considering constraints across scopes and teams.
• Review Pull Requests outside your team’s scope (JS stack).
• Handle bugs across the entire JS stack, including outside your scope.
• Collaborate with other teams and anticipate impacts of features and technical choices.
• Introduce substantial improvements to the codebase (best practices, refactoring).
• Mentor junior developers on your team and occasionally beyond.

Responsibilities

• develop any part of the TypeScript code, even outside your scope
• lead the technical architecture of cross-functional projects while taking into account the constraints of different scopes and teams
• review Pull Requests outside your team’s scope (JS stack)
• handle any bug across the entire JS stack, even outside your scope
• collaborate with other teams
• anticipate and account for the impact of features and technical choices based on the constraints of other teams
• introduce substantial and impactful improvements to the codebase (development best practices, refactoring)
• mentor junior developers (IC1, IC2, IC3) on one’s own team and occasionally outside of one’s team

Requirements

• at least 6 years of experience (including work-study programs) in Node.js backend development
• fluent in English
• comfortable explaining your work and its functional implications to people without a technical background
• interest in and experience with data engineering and analytics projects
• based in Lyon or the surrounding area, as we work from the office Tuesday through Thursday
• enjoy programming and writing high-quality code
• view development as a team effort
• consider yourself a backend developer
