Job summary

Sonos is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Scientist (ASR) in Paris, hybrid work model. You will join the Audio Machine Learning team to design and deploy state-of-the-art speech recognition and wakeword models for Sonos Voice Control across devices and apps.

The role requires 8+ years in ML for voice, a PhD or Master’s in CS (or equivalent), and strong Python/PyTorch skills with experience in Rust/C++. You will lead model development lifecycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of ML research and engineering for voice applications.
• PhD or Master’s in CS or equivalent experience.
• Deep knowledge of speech processing (ASR, wakeword detection, audio features).
• Experience shipping models to production and end-to-end lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and train state-of-the-art ML models for ASR and wakeword detection.
• Ensure models perform well on domain-specific tasks like music entities and home automation.
• Define data strategy for training, testing, and audio augmentation for far-field conditions.
• Maintain scalable training and evaluation pipelines.
• Collaborate with cloud and embedded teams to optimize performance across environments.
• Mentor team members in ML best practices and model analysis.
