Futurail, a leading autonomy-focused tech startup, is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to work from the Strasbourg office. You will customize, integrate, and test our autonomy stack for French and Western European customers, collaborating across hardware and software domains.

The role requires strong embedded software skills (C/C++, Python), experience with perception sensors, and fluency in French and English. Travel to Munich and customer sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in developing code and managing software/hardware projects.
• Experience in customer-facing roles and formalizing customer requirements.
• Experience in embedded software (C/C++, Python) and software engineering processes.
• Knowledge of perception sensors (LiDAR, camera, radar) and onboard computer systems.
• Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or rail environment preferred.

Responsabilités

• Manage integration and deployment projects in collaboration with customers.
• Implement interface and customized software to integrate our product for customers.
• Develop and field-test application-specific features for autonomous train control.
• Define and execute system validation and tests to customer acceptance.
• Collaborate with sales to prepare demos and technical proposals; identify upsell opportunities.
• Proactively identify and resolve challenges to drive team and company growth.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Senior Application Engineer based in our Strasbourg office, you will be responsible for serving our French and Western European customers through customization, integration, and testing. You will join a highly collaborative and competent team, where you’ll have the opportunity to work with various aspects of systems engineering, safety, hardware and software development in an exciting startup setting.

JOB TASKS

• Manage integration and deployment projects in close collaboration with customers.
• Implement interface and customized software to integrate our product into our customers’.
• Implement and field-test application-specific features for autonomous train control, including localization, mapping, obstacle detection, and collision avoidance.
• Define and execute system validation and tests (bench and field) all the way to customer acceptance.
• Collaborate with the commercial team to set up successful demos and technical proposals to sign future customers. Spot and support opportunities for up-sales and new projects at existing customers
• Proactively identify and resolve challenges to drive growth and enhance the success of both the team and the company.

REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of 5 years of proven work experience in developing code and managing software and hardware projects.
• Experience in customer-facing roles and customer requirements formalization.
• Experience in embedded software, C/C++, Python, and software engineering processes and tools.
• Understanding of different perception sensors like LiDAR, camera, and radar, as well as computers
• Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or the rail environment is a big plus.
• Openness to learning, pragmatism, ambition, and fun to work with.
• Fluency in French and English is mandatory for this role.
• Availability to travel to Munich and customer sites regularly.
