Description du poste

About Aerospacelab

Our mission is supported by an ambitious vertically integrated approach: design & manufacture of small satellites combined with development of earth observation services.

Since its creation in 2018, the company has already grown substantially. Our team gathers more than 25 engineering expertise, from hardware design to software development & data science.

In 2026, Aerospacelab counts offices in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium), Toulouse (France), Lausanne (Switzerland) and US West Coast with more than 400 full-time employees, with the ambition to position itself as the European leader in small satellites.

Role overview

In this role you will join Aerospacelab's V&V team as a Satellite V&V Test Engineer, owning the functional verification and validation of one or more satellite subsystems. You become the subsystem expert tailored to V&V needs: you understand how your subsystem behaves, how it interfaces with the rest of the satellite, and how to prove it works.

Working from the project requirements, you write the test specifications and translate them into Python test procedures, which you then execute on the flatsat, satellite qualification model and — as the project matures — the satellite proto-flight model.

Depending on your experience and the subsystem workloads, you may own a single subsystem or several. You will also help smooth out the first phase of satellite production, and may spend occasional periods at the Megafactory during test campaigns.

Key activities
  • Become the V&V expert for your assigned subsystem(s), understanding their behaviour, interfaces and requirements.
  • Raise any issues found in the subsystem requirements.
  • Translate requirements into test specifications for your subsystem(s), at subsystem and system level.
  • Define GSE requirements for FAL and FS testing, together with the GSE Engineers.
  • Translate test specifications into Python test procedures.
  • Execute the procedures on the flatsat, QM and possibly the PFM, collecting and analysing the results and reporting per the V&V process.
  • Validate the interfaces between your subsystem and other subsystems and tackle cross-cutting validation topics.
  • Support the first phase of satellite production to smooth out any early issues (occasional presence in the Megafactory).
  • Contribute to the team's knowledge sharing, brainstorming sessions, and continuous improvement of our subsystem V&V knowledge.
Must have
  • A degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Spacecraft Engineering, RF Engineering or related fields.
  • Programming experience (preferably Python).
  • Proactive, autonomous and a strong communicator, comfortable working in a high-paced environment while cooperating across teams.
  • Eye for detail and high-quality standards.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Nice to have skills (or motivated to learn)
  • Knowledge and experience in a relevant satellite subsystem (AOCS, EPS, THERM, TT&C, OISL, DHC, PROP, RF systems, ...) — a very strong asset.
  • Previous V&V experience, experience with functional or electrical satellite AIT activities, EGSE environments, and satellite functional test executions.
  • Previous systems engineering experience, good satellite system-level thinking, good understanding of the avionics and major subsystems of a satellite (and how they interact with each other).
  • Understanding spacecraft telecommand/telemetry concepts and how they relate to test scripting.
  • Knowledge of the ECSS or other standards related to testing, verification, systems engineering, quality, and SW.
  • Experience contributing to major space project milestones & associated deliverables for PDR, CDR, etc.
  • Previous experience in aviation, automotive, or aerospace.
