A prestigious university in France is seeking a First Stage Researcher to join their Ambiance Architectures Urbanités laboratory. Offer Description

The Ambiance Architectures Urbanités laboratory is a joint research unit (UMR) with approximately 150 members divided into two teams (the CRESSON team in Grenoble and the CRENAU team in Nantes). The laboratory is supervised by the CNRS, the National Schools of Architecture of Grenoble (ENSAG) and Nantes (ENSAN) on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, the École Centrale de Nantes (ECN) and the www.aau.archi.fr .
You will be attached to the CRESSON team, based at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Grenoble. CRESSON is a research team composed of 70 members, including 30 researchers and teacher-researchers, 5 research support staff, 20 associate researchers and 15 doctoral students.

  • Review the state of the art in research on ecological sensitivities in the fields of ambience, atmosphere studies and environmental humanities
  • Conduct a site-specific survey using methodologies derived mainly from sensitive approaches to space
  • Undertake analyses of inhabitants' practices and everyday sensibilities to socio-ecological changes
  • Write a scientific article on ecological

Part‑time presence at MACI and part‑time presence at CRESSON
Travel as part of the empirical survey

  • Knowledge of the field of ambience and/or atmosphere studies and/or sensitive approaches to space
  • Knowledge of social science research methods and/or research methods related to sensitive approaches to space (semi-structured interviews, audio and video recordings, guided tours, itinerary methods, sensitive mapping, etc.)
  • Ability to conduct empirical surveys
  • Ability to collect, analyse and archive qualitative data
  • Knowledge of the legal and ethical framework for the production and processing of qualitative and sensitive data
  • Knowledge of current requirements in open science
  • Proficiency in written and oral presentation techniques
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to empirical contexts
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity
  • Hold a PhD in spatial planning and urban planning or a PhD in architecture or a PhD in geography
