A leading academic institution in France is offering a postdoctoral researcher position focused on the synthesis and study of chiral materials for energy-related research. Candidates must hold a PhD in materials chemistry with significant experience in designing chiral materials and a strong publication record. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are vital. The role includes advancing research through synthesis, characterization, and the development of innovative electrocatalytic processes.
- work environment: The “Institut Européen des Membranes” (IEM), founded in 1994, is a reference laboratory at the international level in the field of membrane materials and processes with research objectives based on a multidisciplinary approach and multi-scale: – the development and characterization of new membrane materials; – their implementation in membrane processes (effluent treatment, gas separation, biotechnologies related to food science and health…).
The postdoctoral researcher will benefit from the expertise and equipment available at the European Institute of Membranes (IEM), which will allow her/him to cover the entire chain of chiral material development, from advanced synthesis routes to the study of the catalyst properties from CO2 utilization in asymmetric reactions. This project aligns with priority scientific objectives and strategic axes of the IEM, namely: synthesis, characterization, and of new functional materials to explore new energy‑related research directions.
- main mission: 1) the synthesis of high Miller index chiral kink sites based metals (e.g., Cu and Ag) to: 2) Convert CO₂ via stereoselective asymmetric electro‑carboxylation of achiral molecules into chiral compounds, 3) Study in‑depth the role and the reconstruction of the chiral catalysts, and 4) Develop a chiral electrocatalytic electrolyzer.
