You will publish in top venues and work closely with engineering to deploy research prototypes into production components, shaping world-model agents that reason under uncertainty.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field with a focus in neuro-symbolic AI, knowledge representation, or automated reasoning.
• A strong publication record at top-tier ML/AI conferences demonstrating originality and rigor.
• Proficiency in Python and modern DL frameworks (PyTorch or JAX), plus experience implementing symbolic solvers or logic-based systems.

Responsabilités

• Conduct original research in neuro-symbolic AI, integrating neural networks with symbolic reasoning over hypergraphs.
• Develop novel algorithms for multi-hop inference, causal reasoning, and planning on large-scale knowledge representations.
• Design world-model agent architectures using hypergraph reasoning to manage beliefs, predict outcomes, and act under uncertainty.
• Publish findings in top venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, KR) and contribute to the community via open-source work.

About The Role

Rippletide is seeking a Research Scientist specializing in Neuro-Symbolic AI to join our Paris-based Research team. In this role, you will push the boundaries of what is possible when neural learning meets structured symbolic reasoning, developing the theoretical and algorithmic foundations that power our hypergraph decision database. Your work will directly influence how AI agents perceive, plan, and act in complex enterprise environments. If you are passionate about building world-model agents that combine the flexibility of deep learning with the rigor of formal logic, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct original research in neuro-symbolic AI, focusing on the integration of neural network architectures with symbolic reasoning over hypergraph structures.
• Develop novel algorithms for multi-hop inference, causal reasoning, and planning that operate efficiently over large-scale, dynamic knowledge representations.
• Design and evaluate world-model agent architectures that leverage hypergraph reasoning to maintain coherent beliefs, predict outcomes, and select actions under uncertainty.
• Publish findings in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, and KR, and actively contribute to the broader research community through open-source releases and collaborations.
• Work closely with the Engineering team to transition research prototypes into production-grade components, ensuring that scientific advances translate into real customer value.

What We’re Looking For

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a closely related field, with a dissertation or significant body of work in neuro-symbolic AI, knowledge representation, or automated reasoning.
• A strong publication record at top-tier machine learning or AI conferences demonstrating originality, technical depth, and scientific rigor.
• Proficiency in Python and modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX, along with experience implementing symbolic solvers or logic-based systems.
• Deep familiarity with graph-based reasoning methods, including graph neural networks, probabilistic graphical models, or answer-set programming.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex research ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and a genuine enthusiasm for collaborative, interdisciplinary work.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large language model reasoning, chain-of-thought prompting, or tool-augmented agents.
• Background in cognitive science, formal verification, or category theory as it applies to knowledge representation.
• Prior industry research experience where you shipped research artifacts into production systems.
