Job summary

Datadog is seeking a Research Manager in Paris to lead a team focused on foundation models and world models. You will drive large-scale pre-training and multimodal learning using telemetry signals from distributed systems, while guiding research direction and mentoring researchers and engineers.

The role blends hands-on research with strategic leadership, collaborating with product and engineering teams to translate advances into scalable Datadog capabilities. Hybrid work is supported.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to lead technically ambitious research at scale.
• Hands-on experience designing/training large-scale deep learning models (e.g., LLMs).

Responsibilities

• Lead research in foundation models and multimodal learning, setting technical direction for ambitious programs.
• Mentor researchers and research engineers while shaping strategy and experimentation.
• Train large-scale multimodal models on telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces, topology, events).
• Advance pre-training, representation learning, world modeling, scaling, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research into Datadog capabilities.
• Contribute to publications and open-source model artifacts and benchmarks.
