Meta's Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) is seeking a Research Engineer to drive advancements in large language models, spanning research, engineering, optimization, and deployment for both product and frontier model efforts.

You will lead algorithmic research, design experiments, collaborate across teams, mentor peers, and contribute to publications and open-source initiatives.

Qualifications

• Masters in Computer Science required.
• PhD or equivalent practical experience in a relevant field.
• Publications in top-tier venues (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Innovate, lead, and execute pioneering algorithmic research to push the state-of-the-art in generative models and LLM performance
• Directly contribute to the experimental process, including designing details, implementing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (research, product, infra) to build new and advance LLM optimization
• Analyze and optimize code for quality, efficiency, and performance, and provide feedback to peers during code reviews
• Lead initiatives, provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers, and help onboard new team members
• Contribute to publications, open-sourcing initiatives, and mentor other team members

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters-level education in computer science
• Experience in building LLM systems efficiently and at scale PhD in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Publications in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR
